Embase logo

Type: base bibliographic-abstract

Access method: in the PUMS network and from personal devices via remote access

Description:

Embase is the world's largest database of biomedical databases of published, peer-reviewed literature, journal articles, and conference abstracts.

Embase, a database containing manually indexed information from over 8500 biomedical journals from over 5000 publishers, over 40 million records including 2.4 million conference abstracts. The database indexes full texts based on the EMTREE biomedical dictionary.

Users have access to functionalities that are essential for conducting research on drugs, diseases and medical devices. Using the Embase.com interface, we have access to secondary terms and triple linking (semantic relations extracted from the full text), which allows, among other things, direct comparison of drug effects (semantic relations between keywords, not their collocation in the text), drug interactions, adverse drug effects, drug combinations, drug therapies and others. Similarly, for diseases, information on drug therapies and adverse effects is extracted. For medical devices, it is possible to compare them and monitor adverse effects and other data.

Search wizards allow you to quickly build search strategies for adverse drug reactions, perform clinical evaluations of devices, answer common clinical questions based on evidence-based medicine (EBM), and much more. The Embase.com interface is designed in such a way that it does not require specialized and time-consuming learning of search queries, allowing for intuitive operation through a graphical interface
